'National treasure' Bernie McGann is regarded by many as Australia's most original alto saxophonist.

McGann has been flying the creative flag for jazz in Australia for the last 40 years. Jazz critic John Clare has called McGann "one of the glories of Australian music" - Sydney Morning Herald.

His trio and quartet formats have won various awards, including ARIA for Best Jazz CD for Ugly Betty, McGann x McGann and Playground as well as MO Awards for Jazz Group of the Year and Jazz Instrumentalist of the Year. Recent trio recordings inclued Bundeena (2000), Blues for Pablo Too (2005) and Live at Side On (2005).
