"Jubilation are brilliant... by the end the audience jump to their feet, yelling, stomping, and hooting for more." - Theatreview
Gospel music with a rock n roll attitude. This Auckland based 32-voice strong a cappella (unaccompanied) choir's repertoire is rooted in African-American gospel, including in the mix pieces by contemporary songwriters - such as Ben Harper, Cissy Houston, Van Morrison and even Tom Waits.
Rising to prominence after providing the backing vocals for Hollie Smith in her performance of Don McGlashan's "Bathe In The River" for the film soundtrack No. 2, Jubilation have been in hot demand for their spirit lifting, roof raising, feel good performances, where whose the common religion is great music.
Their membership includes many professional musicians, such as guest soloist and entertainer extraordinaire Jackie Clark, and Jubilation embraces a wide pool of talent. Rather than relying on a single musical director, a team of five people give direction. This is the sort of group where everyone's input is valued and the result has that delicious feeling of raising the hairs on the back of your neck.
"This choir is probably the most versatile selection of singers in New Zealand today and can only be described as spectacular! ...If you haven't heard Jubilation, reprioritize them to the top of your concert schedule." - NZ Musician
