Michael Maass is Europe's best-known swing drummer, famed also for his inventive approach to percussion. With an ear for the unusual, he has been known to use 'instruments' such as wine glasses, walls, floors, spoons, his own body and even a handkerchief.
Maass is also the director of the Jüterboogie Festival in Jüterborg and of the Mississippi Blues Night at Berlin's Jazz in Town Festival.
