About the Jazz Festival venues

The Wellington Jazz Festival takes place over one weekend in four key venues in downtown Wellington. Each venue is less than one minute's walking distance from the other.

The Pacific Blue Note

This purpose-built jazz club is located inside the Wellington Town Hall, transforming it as you have never seen before.

The Michael Fowler Centre

The Michael Fowler Centre is one of New Zealand's premier concert halls and will play host to the one-off performance by the Mingus Big Band. Its unique interior design reflects sound evenly throughout the auditorium, creating the clear acoustics for which it is internationally renowned.

The Ilott Theatre

Located on the ground floor of the Wellington Town Hall, the Ilott Theatre has comfortable tiered seating with excellent sight lines. This intimate and attractive space provides a wonderful location to enjoy the selection of premium local talent that will be performing at the Wellington Jazz Festival.

Civic Square

Civic Square will be home to our Free Stage, a series of open air concerts that will bring jazz in its many guises to the masses. Mojo Coffee will be setting up shop in the Square for the duration of the Festival, making sure their brew is available to those enjoying the music.
