Get Involved

The 2018 Wellington Jazz Festival was our biggest yet with 30,000 music lovers coming out to play at what has now grown to become New Zealand's biggest mid-winter music festival.

Now we're ready to do it all again, 5-9 June 2019. But we need your help. Host your own Wellington Jazz Festival event and get ready to join the party! Registrations for the 2019 Wellington Jazz Festival's Jazz at Large and Jazz Bites programme open late 2018.  Until then, sign up for email updates to keep in the loop.

But what's in it for me?

From a sold-out crowd to a cosy booth for two, the cool capital comes out to play at this annual mid-winter musical feast. We're working harder than ever to raise the event's national profile, and it's a perfect opportunity to grow your business at this traditionally quiet time of year.

Register your jazz/funk/blues/soul flavoured happening and we'll promote it alongside our line-up of award-winning international artists performing in the Opera House. You'll see your event here on our website, in our printed event programme (85,000 copies distributed nationally), plus we'll supply you with signage to help promote your very own jazz hot spot.

There are two ways to get involved:

Jazz At Large

Are you a musician? Or perhaps you run a great Wellington venue. If so, we make it easy to host your own Wellington Jazz Festival gig. In 2018 our venues and artists alike wowed the crowds with an amazing Jazz At Large line-up. From jam sessions to live album recordings - there were 165 gigs at more than 50 city-wide venues.

Jazz Bites

You don't even have to host a live music gig to join the party. Cafes and restaurants can register 'jazz hot' food and drink offers too.

Key Dates

Plan to be a part of the buzz. In 2018, our key dates were:

12 March > Jazz at Large and Jazz Bites deadline for printed programme
26 March > International headliners announced
18 April > Jazz at Large and Jazz Bites announced and programme distributed
6-10 June > 2018 Wellington Jazz Festival
